Title:
VALVE FOR COOLING WATER CIRCUIT IN A MOTOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/016774
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A controlled vent or shut-off valve (10) for use in the cooling water circuit of a motor vehicle is provided with an inflow passage (13), with an outflow passage (14) offset in parallel from the inflow passage (13) and with a movable valve element (20) which is arranged in a space (15) between inflow and outflow passages (13, 14) and is in the form of a disc-shaped bimetal element which can bear against a fixed valve seat plane (30) on a side facing away from the direction of flow. To operate such a valve, which can be produced more cost-effectively and is less complicated with regard to housing and bimetal element, the longitudinal axis (35) of the space (15) lying between inflow and outflow passages (13, 14) is arranged perpendicularly to the longitudinal axes (33, 34) of both passages (13, 14) and the disc-shaped bimetal element (20) is held in a freely movable manner inside the space (15) and in the longitudinal axis (35) thereof between a bottom-side contact (12) and the axially spaced-apart fixed valve seat plane (30).
