Abstract:

A valve device is provided with a pivotally operated valve arm (12) and an opening and closing valve (13) which is supported at the front end of the valve arm (12), and the valve device closes a passage hole (9, 31), through which exhaust gas passes, by means of the opening and closing valve (13). The opening and closing valve (13) is provided with: a valve body (16) having a substantially circular plate-like shape and seated on a valve seat (A) around the passage hole (9, 31) when the valve is closed; and a valve-side mounting section (18) supported by the valve arm (12). If a portion of the surface of the valve body (16), the portion being in contact with the valve seat (A) when the valve is closed, is defined as a seal surface (B), a portion of the surface where the valve arm (12) and the opening and closing valve (13) are in contact with each other, the portion being closest to the seal surface (B), is defined as a contact surface (C) defined when the valve is closed, the distance from the seal surface (B) to the contact surface (C) defined when the valve is closed is hx, and the thickness of the valve body (16) is h1, then an arm insertion section (α) for receiving a part of the valve arm (12) is provided in the valve body (16), and the relationship of hx < h1 is satisfied.
