Abstract:
A valve drive device for an engine, in which a roller in rolling contact with a valve
operating cam of a cam shaft is supported at a roller support section provided
at a first rocker arm via a roller shaft; a second rocker arm is connected in an interlocked
manner to an engine valve, the second rocker arm having an arm with a sliding surface
on which a circular tube-like boss section and the roller shaft slide, the circular
tube-like boss section being supported in a rockable manner by a support shaft;
and either of rocking axes of the first and second rocker arms is displaced within
a plane perpendicular to the axis of the cam shaft. At least a roller support section
(38) of the first rocker arm (23) is placed at a position superposing, in a plan
view, on the second rocker arm (26A, 26B). The valve drive device is reduced in
size in the direction of the axis of the cam shaft.
