Abstract:
Provided are a valve timing control device and a valve timing control method capable of stabilizing control of valve timing when a locked state of a valve timing adjustment mechanism is released. The valve timing control device includes a feedback control unit that sets a first operation amount indication value by feedback computation, and a pin extraction control unit that sets a second operation amount indication value of a hydraulic control valve and controls pin extraction and gradually moves a lock pin such that the hydraulic pressure supplied to the valve timing adjustment device varies. The feedback control unit continues, while the pin extraction is being controlled, the feedback computation such that the increase rate of the operation amount of the hydraulic control valve is reduced as compared with a basic feedback computation.
