Abstract:
A vane type vacuum pump having a rotor (34) for rotating a vane (42) while sliding it on a housing (21) and provided concentrically with a rotary shaft (31) between the housing and the rotor, substantially over the entire circumference, with a labyrinth−like seal having at least a set of circular circumferential groove (44) and a circular circumferential protrusion (43) fitted to move relatively in the circumferential direction. The protrusion or the groove is continuous on the housing side but discontinuous on the rotor side so that it does not impede radial movement of the vane and the vane is provided with a clearance (49).
