A variable capacity compressor provided with a mechanism which causes foreign matter to be less likely to enter a capacity control valve.  The mechanism is achieved with simple modification to the compressor and without increasing the production cost, the size, and the weight of the compressor. A compressor configured such that the stroke of a piston is changed by adjusting the pressure in a crank chamber by supplying refrigerant gas in a discharge chamber to the crank chamber through a capacity control valve and a gas supply path, wherein a gas path for introducing the refrigerant gas in the discharge chamber to the capacity control valve side is formed between any of a discharge valve forming member, a valve plate, and a gasket which is located between a cylinder head and a cylinder block.  Also, an opening connecting to the inside of the discharge chamber is provided in one end of the gas path, and the other end of the gas path is connected to the inflow opening of a control gas introducing path formed in the cylinder head and directly connecting to the capacity control valve.  Thus, a control gas introducing route leading from the discharge chamber to the capacity control valve is formed by the gas path and the gas introducing path, and an opening of the gas path, the opening being open to the inside of the discharge chamber, can be set to a desired upper position.
