Abstract:
This variable compression device (A) can change the compression ratio of an engine (1) and is provided with: a piston rod (6); a pump (8a) which increases the pressure of an operating fluid; a cross-head pin (7a) having formed therein a fluid chamber (R3) into which the operating fluid, the pressure of which has been increased, is introduced to move the piston rod (6) in the direction in which the compression ratio increases, the cross-head pin (7a) being connected to the piston rod (6); a discharge mechanism (15) for discharging the operating fluid from the fluid chamber (R3); and a first operating fluid flow passage (Rb) which guides the operating fluid to be supplied to the fluid chamber (R3), and which is connected to the cross-head pin (7a) and the pump (8a).
