Abstract:
A variable diameter cylindrical gas spring comprising a spring body (1). The spring body (1) is formed by at least one hollow cavity (2). The sidewall of the cavity (2) is a multilayer structure, where the layers of the sidewall each form a sealed chamber (3) for accommodating a pressurized gas. The cavity (2) is a variable diameter cylinder that is wide at the two ends and narrow at the middle. The chambers (3) are each provided with a ventilation hole (4). The amount of inflation of the chambers (3) is adjusted in real time by inflating or deflating via the ventilation holes (4), thus adjusting the softness/firmness or flexibility of the gas spring. When the pressurized gas is discharged from the chambers (3), the gas spring has a reduced footprint, can be packaged by being rolled up, and allows for convenient packaging, storage, and transportation.
