Abstract:

A variable displacement compressor where a swash plate for converting the rotating motion of a main shaft into the reciprocating motion of pistons is connected to the main shaft through link mechanisms and where the stroke of the pistons is changed by changing the tilt angle of the swash plate by guidance of the link mechanisms. To cope with the problem of positional displacement, relative to the direction of the swash plate center axis, of the overall center of gravity of the swash plate and all the movable parts mounted on the swash plate, the dimensions of links and their related parts of the link mechanisms are so set that the direction of eccentricity of the radially center of the swash plate relative to the main shaft when the tilt angle of the swash plate is changed between the maximum and the minimum is reversed relative to the main shaft (reversed to the positive direction and the negative directions relative to the center axis of the spindle). Therefore, unbalanced inertia force produced by the eccentricity of the overall center of gravity relative to the main shaft can be reduced. Consequently, the variable displacement compressor has less unbalanced inertia force, less vibration, and high reliability, and can be manufactured at low cost.
