Provided is a variable displacement compressor capable of preventing the intrusion of foreign matter into a second control valve. A variable displacement compressor 100 comprises: a first control valve 300 that controls the opening degree of a supply passage 145; a check valve 350; a second control valve 400 that controls the opening degree of an exhaust passage 146; and a back pressure relief passage 147. The second control valve 400 includes: a back pressure chamber 410 that communicates with an intermediate supply passage 145b1; a valve chamber 420 where a valve hole 103d and an exhaust hole 431a are open and that constitutes a portion of the exhaust passage 146; a partition member 430 that partitions the back pressure chamber 410 and the valve chamber 420; and a spool 440. In a state where the first control valve 300 has closed the supply passage 145 and a valve seat side end surface 442a of a valve part 442 of the spool 440 is at the maximum distance from a valve seat 103f, an end wall side end surface 442b of the valve part 442 abuts an end wall 432 of the partition member 430, thereby cutting off the communication between the valve chamber 420 and back pressure chamber 410 which is via a through-hole 432a in the end wall 432.
