Abstract:
In order to manufacture a variable displacement pump which comprises first to third outer recesses 40-42 which are disposed in the inner peripheral surface 3b of a pump housing chamber 3 of a pump body and which are recessed in an arc shape radially outwards centered on a drive shaft, and a fourth outer recess 43 at the end of a spring housing chamber 16, this manufacturing method involving a first step in which the inner peripheral surfaces and the bottom surfaces of the first to the fourth outer recesses are processed by an end mill tool 50 from the axial direction of the pump body, and a second step in which, of the processed inner peripheral surfaces and bottom surfaces of the first to fourth outer recesses processed in the first step, the inner peripheral surface and bottom surface of the pump housing chamber are processed in the circumferential direction, avoiding the radially outermost area (the deepest parts P1-P4). Through these steps, it is possible to improve the processing work efficiency of the entire housing recess of the pump body and to avoid reducing the tool life.
