Abstract:
In a housing, a rotor is mounted fixedly and a sleeve movably on a driving shaft. A rotary swash plate is supported inclinably on the sleeve, and connected to the rotor. Pistons moving in bores are connected to the rotary swash plate. A refrigerant is supplied from suction chambers to these bores, and the refrigerant compressed by the pistons is discharged from the bores to a discharge chamber. A difference between the pressure in the suction chambers and that in a crank chamber is regulated by a control valve, and an angle of inclination of the rotary swash plate is thereby varied to render the displacement of a compressor variable. The housing is provided therein with a spool slidably which holds the driving shaft therein. When the spool is moved into the crank chamber, the sleeve engages the spool, and a movement of the rotary swash plate is controlled to a position in which the displacement of the refrigerant to the discharge chamber is set to a predetermined control level. The housing is provided therein with a gear pump operatively connected to and driven by the driving shaft. A discharge pressure of the gear pump is supplied selectively to the spool in accordance with the level of an outlet pressure of an evaporator. When the spool is retracted from the crank chamber on the basis of this pressure supply, the rotary swash plate is allowed to move up to a position in which the displacement of the refrigerant into the discharge chamber becomes zero.
