Abstract:
A variable ISI transmission channel device inserted in a high-speed transmission channel for high-speed serial data communication continuously adjusts the amount of an inter-symbol interference (ISI) in the high-speed transmission channel, thereby simulating a "live" ISI environment to which the high-speed transmission channel is exposed during operation in a situation such as a bit error test. A transmission loss generation member (6), (16), (26) such as an inductor, a magnetic body, or an electric conductor is slid over a conductor strip (2) exposed to the surface of a tabular dielectric substrate (1), with the underside of the transmission loss generation member (6), (16), (26) facing the surface of the conductor strip (2), whereby the face-to-face area is continuously increased or reduced. A dielectric loss, a magnetic loss, and a resistance loss increasing or decreasing inside the transmission loss generation member are reflected in a high-frequency signal on the conductor strip (2).
