Abstract:
This variable magnification optical system for an endoscope is configured to comprise, in order from the object, a first lens group having negative power, a second lens group having positive power, and a third lens group having a meniscus lens with the convex surface facing the object. The variable magnification optical system is configured to vary the magnification of an optical image by moving the second lens group along the optical axis direction relative to the first lens group and the third lens group that are fixed lens groups while keeping the distance between the lens surface of the first lens group closest to the object and the image surface constant.
