Abstract:
A variable number plate, comprising a driving mechanism (30), a return stopping piece (40), an outer cylinder (10), and an inner cylinder (20) provided within the outer cylinder (10) and rotatable relative to the outer cylinder (10). The inner cylinder (20) is provided with an axis of rotation (X) extending in the axial direction thereof. The inner cylinder (20) is provided thereon with information (22). The outer cylinder (10) is provided thereon with a window (12) for displaying the information (22) on the inner cylinder (20) to the external environment. The driving mechanism (30) is provided at a first extremity (101) of the outer cylinder. A first ratchet mechanism (331 and 24) is provided between the driving mechanism (30) and the a first extremity (201) of the inner cylinder. The first ratchet mechanism (331 and 24) is constructed to allow the driving mechanism (30) to drive the inner cylinder (20) to rotate unidirectionally in a first direction (R1) relative to the outer cylinder (10), the first direction (R1) surrounding the axis of rotation (X). The return stopping piece (40) is provided at a second extremity (102) of the outer cylinder. A second ratchet mechanism (41 and 26) is provided between the return stopping piece (40) and a second extremity (202) of the inner cylinder. The second ratchet mechanism (41 and 26) allows the inner cylinder (20) to rotate in the first direction (R1) relative to the outer cylinder (10) but stops the inner cylinder (20) from rotating in a second direction (R2), the second direction (R2) surrounding the axis of rotation (X) and running opposite to the first direction (R1).
