Abstract:
Disclosed is a variable-speed power generation device that ensures a speed-variability range for a wound-rotor induction generator while supplying reactive power in response to reactive-power supply commands from a power system. The disclosed variable-speed power generation device (1) is provided with: a prime mover that utilizes natural energy to generate power; a power generator (6) that generates electricity from the power generated by the prime mover and has a stator, provided with a first winding connected to a power system (2), and a rotor, provided with a secondary winding; a power converter (17) connected to the stator side and the rotor side; and a power converter controller (21). The power converter (17) does not supply reactive power to the power system (2), and when a reactive-power supply command that causes reactive power to be supplied to the power system (2) is received from the power system (2), the power converter controller (21) runs the power generator (6) at a speed set greater than or equal to the synchronous speed, thereby increasing the reactive power supplied to the power system (2).
