Abstract:

A variable valve device is configured in such a manner that, when an actuator (41) is operated in order to select either a low-speed rocker arm (19) or a high-speed rocker arm (21), an operation piece (47) is moved to a different position and a connection pin (37) is advanced to the high-speed rocker arm (21) side. In this case, even if the actuator (41) is set to a non-operating position, each position of the connection pin (37) can be held by a status holding mechanism (43). This means that the high-speed rocker arm (21) can be kept being selected without electric power consumption and without requiring a countermeasure against heat, and as a result, the variable valve device can be provided easily.
