Abstract:
Provided is a variable valve device for internal combustion engines, whereby the length of the device in the axial direction is reduced and the device becomes more compact, and the freedom of layout inside an engine room can be increased. The variable valve device comprises: power supply slip rings (26a, 26b) provided on the front end side of an electric motor (8) and a cover member (4) arranged facing the front end side of the electric motor. The cover member comprises: power supply brushes (31a, 31b) that have power supplied thereto from a power supply connector (33) electrically connected to an external power supply; and a pair of torsion coil springs (32) that impel the power supply brushes toward the slip rings. A housing groove (49) is provided at a position parallel to the power supply brushes, in an outside surface (28j) of a cover main body (28) and a winding line section (32a) of the torsion coil sprint is housed inside this housing groove.
