Abstract:

On the basis of a parking-space confidence that indicates the degree of confidence that a parking space is present in the direction of motion of an ego vehicle and a parking-space entry confidence that indicates the degree of confidence that the ego vehicle is going to enter said parking space, an overall confidence that indicates an overall degree of confidence obtained by combining the parking-space confidence and the parking-space entry confidence is computed. When said overall confidence is low, relative to when the overall confidence is high, the acceleration of the ego vehicle, controlled in accordance with the position of an accelerator pedal operated by the driver in order to dictate the amount of driving force produced, is restricted with a low degree of restriction; also, the acceleration of the ego vehicle is restricted with a low degree of restriction in accordance with the direction of motion of the ego vehicle.
