Abstract:
A vehicle body structure whereby loss in coating application is prevented and rust is suppressed, and a method for manufacturing the same. A vehicle body structure (100) is provided with a cross member (2) provided between two side frames (1a, 1b), and gussets (3a, 3b) for reinforcing the cross member (2). The cross member (2) has first contact surfaces in contact with the gussets (3a, 3b). The gussets (3a, 3b) have second contact surfaces in contact with the cross member (2). The cross member (2) and the gussets (3a, 3b) are welded in a state in which the first contact surfaces and the second contact surfaces are placed in contact, the first contact surfaces and the second contact surfaces being coated.
