A compact lean actuator. A seesaw bar (20) is held at the longitudinal center (20c) thereof by a vehicle body (16) so that the seesaw bar (20) can pivot relative to the vehicle body (16), and the seesaw bar (20) holds at both ends (20L, 20R) thereof a left wheel (10) and a right wheel (12) so that the left and right wheels (10, 12) can be extended and retracted. A lean actuator (50) is provided between the seesaw bar (20) and the vehicle body (16). The housing (60) of the lean actuator (50) is held by the vehicle body (16), and the output shaft (58) thereof is affixed to the seesaw bar (20). When the output shaft (58) is rotated, the seesaw bar (20) is caused to pivot to thereby tilt the vehicle body (16). A force acting on the seesaw bar (20) is distributed to the left and right wheels (10, 12) by the seesaw bar (20), and this enables the output of the lean actuator (50) to be reduced. As a result, the lean actuator (50) is correspondingly small.
