Abstract:
A technique effective for accurately detecting the type of a collision of a vehicle using a pressure sensor.
An occupant restraining system (100) mounted on a vehicle, comprising: a door beam (38) which is provided in a defined region (33) defined by a door outer panel (31) and a door inner panel (32) of a vehicle door (30) and which is displaced with deformation of the door outer panel (31) in a collision of the vehicle; a tubular member (130) which is provided in the defined region (33) and is compressed by the door beam (38) when the door beam (38) is displaced; a sealed space section (133) which is provided in the tubular member (130); a pressure sensor (120) which detects a variation in the pressure in the space section (133); a deriving section (141) which derives the amount and speed of displacement
of the door beam (38) on the basis of the pressure variation detected by the pressure sensor (120); and a determination section (142) for determining the type of the collision of the vehicle on the basis of the amount and speed of displacement of the door beam (38) which are derived by the deriving section (141).
