Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle collision detection device having an improved collision detection accuracy that is achieved by forming an interstice above or below, relative to a vehicle, a detection tube member (3) in a groove section (2a) formed in a bumper absorber (2). A vehicle collision detection device (1) has: a bumper absorber (2) which is provided in front, relative to a vehicle, of a bumper reinforcement (9) in a vehicle bumper (7); a detection tube member (3) which has a hollow portion (3a) formed therein and which is fitted in a groove section (2a) formed in the bumper absorber (2) along the width direction of a vehicle; and a pressure sensor which detects pressure in the hollow portion (3a) of the detection tube member (3), and detects collision between the bumper and an object (pedestrian) on the basis of the result of pressure detection by the pressure sensor. In addition, in the groove section (2a), a recessed section (21) is formed in inner wall surfaces of the detection tube member (3) on the upper and lower sides relative to a vehicle.
