Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle communication system that makes it possible to minimize increases in man-hours required for various adjustments and to accurately determine the location of a portable device irrespective of whether or not the portable device is in the vicinity of a boundary surface between the vehicle interior and exterior. The vehicle communication system is provided with a vehicle-mounted device (1) for transmitting a signal from a plurality of transmission antennas (3) provided to a vehicle (C), and a portable device (2) for receiving the signal transmitted from the vehicle-mounted device (1) and transmitting a response signal corresponding to the received signal. The portable device (2) measures the signal reception strength of the signals transmitted from each of the transmission antennas (3), and transmits the response signal including the signal reception strength of each of the signals. The vehicle-mounted device (1) receives the response signal transmitted from the portable device (2), and determines, for each of a plurality of different regions including a common space in the vehicle interior, whether or not the portable device (2) is within the region on the basis of the signal reception strengths contained in the response signal. The vehicle-mounted device (1) then determines whether or not the portable device (2) is within all of the regions.
