Abstract:
In a vehicle having two paths as torque transmission paths from the engine to the output shaft of the transmission, each of the paths provided with a clutch and a transmission mechanism, speed change shock caused by torque generated upon engagement of paired gears of a next speed level is reduced. In normal travel control, a control apparatus sets the transmitted torque capacity of the clutches of the two paths at maximum. In normal travel control, the control apparatus renders the paired gears of the transmission mechanism of one of the paths, i.e., a front path, in an engaged state, while rendering the transmission mechanism of the other of the paths, i.e., a next path, in a neutral state. When a speed change command is issued, the control apparatus lowers the transmitted torque capacity of the clutch of the next path. Thereafter, the control apparatus engages the paired gears of the transmission mechanism of the next path before the transmitted torque capacity of the clutch of the next path reaches a minimum value.
