Abstract:
 A vehicle control apparatus (101) is provided with an engine (10), a rotary electrical machine (30), and a control unit (80). In the rotary electrical machine (30), a first rotor (31) is mechanically linked to the engine (10), and a second rotor (32) is linked to an output shaft (50). The rotary electrical machine (30) includes an inner-side motor (30a) capable of rotatably driving the first rotor (31), and an outer-side motor (30b) capable of rotatably driving the second rotor (32). The control unit (80) cranks the engine (10) by supplying power to and activating the inner-side motor (30a). When the engine (10) is cranked, in cases in which at least some of the torque that can be generated corresponding to the rotational speeds of each of the inner-side motor (30a) and the outer-side motor (30b) is insufficient for the torque needed by the inner-side motor (30a) and the outer-side motor (30b) in order to crank the engine (10), the inner-side motor (30a) is activated to crank the engine (10) so that the cranking torque of the engine (10) is lowered.
