Abstract:
A driving assistance ECU controls, as this vehicle control device, travel of a vehicle on the basis of the result of detection by a radar device for detecting targets in the periphery of the local vehicle. An angle calculation unit of the driving assistance ECU calculates the axial deviation direction and the axial deviation angle, which is the deviation amount of the mounting angle of the radar device. A regulation value calculation unit sets a detection range for detecting targets which are to be taken into account in controlling travel of the local vehicle. Until a prescribed initial period has elapsed after startup, the angle calculation unit reduces the width in the horizontal direction of the detection range on the basis of an initial angle, which determines in advance the deviation amount of the attachment angle of the radar device, and after the initial period has elapsed after startup, the angle calculation unit reduces the width in the horizontal direction of the detection range on the basis of a calculated value of the axial deviation direction and the axial deviation angle.
