Abstract:
A vehicle control device (13) which is mounted to a vehicle, and which controls the vehicle in accordance with the position of another vehicle present ahead of the vehicle is provided with: a setting means which sets a parameter (S) indicating the relative position of the other vehicle with respect to the vehicle in the transverse direction, i.e. the direction orthogonal to the course of the vehicle; a determination means which uses the parameter to determine whether the other vehicle is positioned on the course of the vehicle; a detection means for detecting whether the vehicle and/or the other vehicle have/has moved relatively in the transverse direction; and a correction means for correcting the parameter in cases when relative movement in the transverse direction is detected.
