Abstract:
A vehicle control device (13) which is mounted to a vehicle, and which controls the vehicle in accordance with the position of another vehicle present ahead of the vehicle is provided with: a setting means which sets, in accordance with the relative position of the other vehicle with respect to the vehicle in the transverse direction, i.e. the direction orthogonal to the course of the vehicle, a parameter indicating whether the other vehicle is positioned on the course of the vehicle; a determination means which uses the parameter to determine whether the other vehicle is positioned on the course of the vehicle; an acquisition means which acquires the vehicle lane width, i.e. the width of a vehicle lane along which the vehicle is travelling; and an adjustment means which, on the basis of the vehicle lane width, changes the corresponding relationship between the relative position and the parameter.
