Abstract:
The vehicle control device 100, which performs vehicle control for avoiding or suppressing a collision with an object in the vicinity on the basis of detection information from multiple sensors 20 for respectively detecting the object using different methods, determines the occurrence of a detection-performance-degrading situation, that is, a situation in which the object detection performance of any one of the sensors is degraded, on the basis of the detection information from the affected sensor or from the other sensors. Next, when an object is detected, within a predetermined time period after the encountered detection-performance-degrading situation is determined as having been cleared, by the sensor for which the detection-performance-degrading situation has been cleared, the amount of time for activating the vehicle control is set to be less than when the object is detected by the sensor without encountering the detection-performance-degrading situation.
