Abstract:
This vehicle control device (10) performs following period control in which a vehicle (40) is made to accelerate together with operation of a direction indicator in the vehicle when the direction indicator is operated while following a leading vehicle (41). The vehicle control device is provided with: an adjacent vehicle selection unit (14) that selects an adjacent vehicle (42) traveling in an adjacent lane (52) adjacent to the lane of travel (51) of the vehicle from among other vehicles (41, 42) present in front of the vehicle on the basis of the distance relative to the vehicle in the direction of travel of the vehicle and a lateral position that is a position relative to the vehicle in a direction intersecting the direction of travel of the vehicle; and an acceleration control unit (18) that implements acceleration of the vehicle by the following period control on the basis of whether the adjacent vehicle is selected by the adjacent vehicle selection unit when the direction indicator is operated while following the leading vehicle.
