Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle control device capable of improving fuel consumption without giving a driver a sense of discomfort. If an ECU determines (YES in step S11) that the brake has turned ON during N coasting control, the ECU stores (step S12) the current position and the current vehicle speed in a learning DB. Next, the ECU browses information that has been associated with a section including the current position, and compares (step S13) data similar to the current position and current vehicle speed stored this time. Next, after comparing the similar data in step S13, the ECU sets the section browsed in step S12 as an N coasting-prohibited section if a determination (YES in step S14) has been made that there are at least a fixed number of similar cases.
