Abstract:
The purpose of the invention is to evaluate control for improving fuel consumption on the basis of a learning value obtained through actual travel, and to execute control for improving fuel consumption more appropriately. Specifically, a vehicle control device is configured so that control is executed for improving fuel consumption such that the supply of fuel to the engine is reduced by satisfying a pre-established condition, the control being evaluated by learning the fuel consumption in a predetermined learning interval that includes the travel interval during which the control for improving the fuel consumption is executed during travel, and either this control is prohibited or another control for improving fuel consumption other than this control is executed when the vehicle is traveling during the learning interval if the evaluation produces a poor result in terms of fuel consumption.
