Abstract:

A vehicle control device according to an embodiment is provided with: a regeneration control unit; a determination unit; a drive control unit; and a discharge control unit. The regeneration control unit performs regeneration control by a motor/generator. The determination unit determines whether the regeneration control by the motor/generator is being executed, and, if the regeneration control is being executed, determines whether a battery state quantity exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The drive control unit, if the regeneration control is being executed and the battery state quantity exceeds the threshold value, disconnects a vehicle drive shaft and the motor/generator. The discharge control unit, with the drive shaft and the motor/generator separated from each other, powers the motor/generator so as to discharge the battery.
