Abstract:
A vehicle control device (1), which suppresses driving force to be generated by an engine (16) of a vehicle and prevents collision with a front obstacle, is provided with an ECU (20) for controlling driving force to be generated by the engine, an ultrasonic sensor (2) for detecting an obstacle in front of the vehicle, and a monocular camera (4) for photographing the area in front of the vehicle. The ECU: determines whether an obstacle is present or absent in front of the vehicle on the basis of an image photographed by the monocular camera during movement of the vehicle; and changes the upper limit value of the driving force to be generated by the engine, in accordance with the combination of a state detected by the ultrasonic sensor and presence/absence of a front obstacle determined on the basis of the image photographed by the monocular camera.
