The present invention realizes a vehicle control device that, even if the power characteristics of a power generation device or a power transmission device have changed, can sense deterioration of constituent components of a vehicle, can correct drive instructions to the power transmission device, and can stabilize the behavior of the vehicle on a long-term basis. The present invention measures variation in the drive force and acceleration in a transient region using a vehicle behavior sensor (4), compares this variation with a standard variation, and senses deterioration in the constituent components of the vehicle. Drive instructions to a transmission (16) are corrected in accordance with the sensed deterioration in the constituent components of the vehicle. Due to this configuration, during automatic operation, even if the power characteristics of a drive power source or the transmission (16) have changed due to factors such as aging deterioration of the constituent components of the vehicle, the behavior (performance) of the vehicle can be stabilized on a long-term basis.
