Abstract:
A vehicle control device for detecting an object that is present to the front of a given vehicle (50) in the direction of travel thereof by using object detection sensors (21, 22), and executing a collision avoidance control targeting said object on the basis of the detection results, the vehicle control device being equipped with: a determination unit for determining that the object detection sensors have acquired a part other than the front end part of the object as the object detection position, when an object moving in a direction that intersects the direction of travel of the given vehicle is present to the front of the given vehicle; and a control unit for allowing execution of the collision avoidance control even when the horizontal position of the acquired part is not located in a predicted collision region targeted by the collision avoidance control, when determined that a part other than the front end part of the object was acquired.
