Abstract:

A vehicle control device 20, 20a is provided with: a peripheral object detecting unit 21; a space determining unit 22; a setting condition determining unit 28, 28a for determining whether a first other vehicle 70, serving as another vehicle that has entered an own lane from free space, or a second other vehicle 57, serving as another vehicle traveling in the own lane in front of a preceding vehicle that has entered free space from the own lane, satisfies a setting condition set for a vehicle being followed; and an automated driving control unit 29, 29a which, if the setting condition determining unit has determined that the setting condition is satisfied, sets said other vehicle as a vehicle being followed and executes a following travel mode.
