Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a vehicle control device that can appropriately assess for collision and appropriately assist with driving by taking obstacle detection error into consideration, and to avoid collision with obstacles. A vehicle control device 100 is provided with a collision assessment unit 3 for assessing for whether there is collision potential between an ego vehicle and an obstacle, and a driving assistance control unit 4 for performing driving assistance to avoid collision. The collision assessment unit 3 comprises: a region setting unit 31 for setting an ego vehicle region and an obstacle region; a location prediction unit 33 for predicting future locations of the ego vehicle and the obstacle region; and an overlap assessment unit 34 for assessing there to be collision potential if the ego vehicle region and the obstacle region overlap at the future locations. The region setting unit 31 sets the ego vehicle region and the obstacle region by altering the size of the ego vehicle region and/or obstacle region from the size of the ego vehicle and/or the obstacle on the basis of a moving speed of the obstacle.
