Abstract:
A method wherein if the driving force required of a second electric motor 6 increases while an internal combustion engine 1 is stopped, the driving force to be output by the second electric power 6 by means of electric power supplied by a battery 5 is constrained to be lower than the maximum driving force as determined from the electric power that the battery 5 can supply to drive an electric-powered vehicle. Between the time when the second electric motor 6 outputs the constrained driving force and the time when the internal combustion engine 1 starts and a first electric motor 4 begins power generation, this vehicle control method increases, over time, the driving force that is output by the second electric motor 6 by means of electric power supplied by the battery 5.
