Abstract:
In a vehicle such that regenerative braking by a motor is enabled, an ECU (200), when regenerative electric power is supplied to both a battery and an electrically heated catalyst apparatus (EHC), temporarily delays turning off the EHC when it is predicted that the battery would be overcharged if the EHC were to be turned off (if electric power supply to the EHC were to be stopped) (250). During the delaying of the turning-off of the EHC, the ECU (200) determines whether a condition for turning off the EHC is satisfied (260). When the condition for turning off the EHC is satisfied, the ECU (200) decreases regenerative brake torque so as to make the regenerative electric power less than a battery acceptable electric power, increases hydraulic brake torque in accordance with the decrease in regenerative brake torque (270), and thereafter cancels the delaying of the turning-off of the EHC (280).
