Abstract:
A vehicle control system (100) is provided with: an acquisition unit (75, 124) for acquiring traffic status information on a main road; a first control unit (150) for determining the possibility for a host vehicle to merge onto the main road on the basis of the traffic status information acquired by the acquisition unit (75, 124) and the length of the merge-possible section in the merge location from a branch road to the main road; and a second control unit (134, 160) for autonomously controlling at least the acceleration of the host vehicle so that the host vehicle travels from the branch road to the main road when the first control unit (150) has determined that it is possible for the host vehicle to merge onto the main road.
