Abstract:
This vehicle control system controls a vehicle on the basis of an estimated gradient value for a traveled road. The vehicle control system comprises a front/rear acceleration speed sensor, a wheel speed sensor, and a control device that calculates the estimated gradient value. The control device determines (step ST11) whether or not the vehicle is reversing, during vehicle travel. The control device then calculates (positive determination in step ST11, and step ST12) the estimated gradient value when the vehicle is traveling forward, on the basis of the output signal from the acceleration speed sensor and the output signal from the wheel speed sensor. On the other hand, when the vehicle is reversing, the control device calculates (negative determination in step ST11, and step ST14) the estimated gradient value on the basis of the output signal from the acceleration speed sensor.
