Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle control system capable of more strictly determining whether or not a portable device is positioned in an effective area in accordance with how the portable device is used. In a vehicle control system, the portable device (10) performs an area determination (S190) on the basis of reception strength of a wireless signal transmitted from an onboard device (20), for example, and when the portable device determines that the position is within an effective area (S190; YES), the portable device informs the onboard device by wireless signal (S200). For example, this manner of vehicle control system is configured so that when the portable device performs an area determination, reception strength of a vehicle signal is corrected (S180) according to the decrease in reception sensitivity of the portable device, which differs depending on how the portable device is used, in terms of the remaining battery life and the orientation of the portable device (10) at the time the vehicle signal was received.
