Abstract:
When a vehicle (1) is moving backward, a control unit (4) sets a braking control working distance in accordance with the angle formed by the traveling direction of the vehicle (1) and the extending direction of the road on which an approaching vehicle is traveling. As a result, the braking control is carried out at late timing in the scene in which the driver is likely to desire to end the backward operation early because of no space for the approaching vehicle to be able to pass through behind the vehicle (1), so that inconvenience or a sense of discomfort that the driver feels from the braking control can be reduced.
