Abstract:
 Initial variation learning control is executed every time a learning condition is established for the purpose of absorbing initial variations such as manufacturing error and variation in components of a second clutch (CL2). The total number of learning cycles is counted and a convergence of the initial variation learning control is determined when the total number of learning cycles of the initial variation learning control reaches a prescribed number (e.g., five learning cycles). A belt (50) of a variator (V) is returned to the lowest gear ratio position; i.e., longitudinal slip speed control is executed, as a condition of the convergence of the learning control. Consequently, longitudinal slip speed control is less likely to be carried out under excess torque, and the durability of the belt and pulley is improved. As a result, longitudinal slip speed control while the input torque is at or above a prescribed value is prevented in advance and responsiveness of an accelerator operation is increased after the longitudinal slip speed control is executed.
