Abstract:
This vehicle detection system accurately detects passage of a vehicle over a bridge at a low cost. This vehicle detection system detects passage of a vehicle over a bridge and comprises: a plurality of sensor devices which measure the amount of expansion or contraction of the bridge between two points in the direction of travel; and an analysis device which detects passage of a vehicle on the basis of the amount of expansion or contraction between the two points as measured by each of the plurality of sensor devices. Each of the plurality of sensor devices has: a first member fixed to the bridge at a first point; a second member that is a cantilever, the fixed end of which is fixed to the bridge at a second point spaced from the first point in the direction of travel, and the free end of which is disposed at a location overlapping at least a portion of the first member in the direction of travel; and a displacement detection unit that detects the relative displacement between the first member and the free end of the second member and outputs the detected displacement as the amount of expansion or contraction.
