Abstract:
This vehicle display device is provided with: a video acquiring unit which acquires a video captured at the periphery of a vehicle; an overhead video generating unit which generates an overhead video in which the video acquired by the video acquiring unit has been subjected to viewpoint conversion as if viewed from above the vehicle to synthesize a virtual host vehicle video indicating the position of the vehicle; an object designating unit which designates an object to be directionally designated, and sets the same as a designated object; a position information acquiring unit which acquires position information relating to the designated object; a vehicle information acquiring unit which acquires the current location and direction of travel of the vehicle; a direction identifying unit which identifies the direction of the designated object, centered on the vehicle, on the basis of the current location and direction of travel, and the position information of the designated object; and a display control unit which adds to the overhead video an icon representing the designated object in the direction identified by the direction identifying unit, and causes a display unit to display the resulting overhead video.
