A vehicle display device is provided with an indicator (10) that illuminates and displays a display image (14) on a screen (13) by lighting and stops the illumination and display of the display image (14) by turning off and a display panel (20, 6020) that is formed so that a light blocker (23) on the rear surface (22, 6022) of the display panel (20, 6020) blocks light in the periphery of a transmission window (27) for transmitting the image light of the display image (14) so that said light can be viewed from the front. Of the front surface (26) of the display panel (20, 6020), at least the transmission area (260, 2260), which is positioned to the front of the transmission window (27), is occupied by a flat portion (261) formed in a flat shape along the screen (13) and a plurality of protruding portions (262, 2262, 3262, 4262, 5262) that convexly protrude more than the flat portion (261). The area occupancy ratio of the flat portion (261) in the transmission area (260, 2260) is adjusted so as to be greater than or equal to the area occupancy ratio of all the plurality of protruding portions (262, 2262, 3262, 4262, 5262) in the transmission area (260, 2260).
