Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle door exterior handle device configured so that, when a handle base, to which is assembled a handle lever that is in a linked/coupled state with a linking arm of an exterior handle, is assembled onto a vehicle door, the handle lever cannot be inserted into an opening in the vehicle door when in a non-operational position, but can be inserted when in an operational position, wherein a state in which the handle lever is temporarily held at the operational position is reliably maintained. A handle base 25 is provided with a pair of lever supports 38, 39 into which a shaft 37A, which is inserted into a handle lever 36, is inserted and by which the shaft is supported. The shaft 37A enables switching between a temporary held state in which the handle lever 36 is held in the operational position and an ordinary support state in which the handle lever 36 is rotatably supported between the non-operational position and the operational position, and the shaft 37A is inserted into the handle lever 36 and the lever supports 38, 39.
